Former Pakistani PM Imran Khan accused of violating the State Secrets

In Pakistan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been accused of violating the State Secrets Act for allegedly disclosing and using a confidential telegram from Pakistan’s Ambassador to Washington for political gain. The trial, held at Adiala prison in Rawalpindi and overseen by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, resulted in formal charges. The court postponed the hearing to October 27, and both Khan and Qureshi deny the accusations.

The confidential telegram was said to be evidence of alleged U.S. pressure on the Pakistani army to overthrow the government in April 2022, a claim made by Khan. However, the Pakistani army has refuted these allegations.
