Indian authorities reported that 4 people have died as a result of Tropical Storm Dana, which has been affecting the eastern state of Odisha and West Bengal since Thursday.
Around 20 villages have been flooded as water levels in rivers rise due to the heavy rain in the mountainous regions of Odisha. Many people are trapped in their homes, while the West Bengal government has moved 83,000 people into shelters.
Indian authorities announced that 1.3 million people have been evacuated ahead of the approaching tropical storm on Thursday.
