A natural gas explosion occurred in a 4-story building in the Darıca district of Kocaeli, Türkiye last night, injuring 14 people in the building.
The PALGAZ company, which supplies natural gas to the area, cut off the gas to 13 neighborhoods due to a hole opened in the natural gas line pipe passing through a construction site during excavation work at around 15:00. Numerous natural gas leaks and malfunction reports were made in many parts of the district starting from noon.
On October 22, another natural gas explosion occurred in an apartment building in the Gebze district, to which the PALGAZ company supplies natural gas, resulting in the deaths of 2 people and the injuries of 7 people. Four days before the explosion, many people reported that they observed gas leaks in many points in Gebze in the evening hours, and citizens reacted strongly to the PALGAZ company, which is owned by PALMET Energy, for not taking sufficient care.
