France, Germany to collaborate during energy crisis

France and Germany will help each other get through the energy crisis and the upcoming winter, according to French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron said at a press conference following a videoconference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that France is ready to deliver more gas to Germany, while Germany will offer more electricity to France if the current energy crisis continues into winter.

Concerning Europe’s high energy prices, Macron proposed establishing European-level control mechanisms for speculative operations.

Macron stated his support for a price cap on Russian gas purchased at the EU level just days before a meeting of EU energy ministers.
