France Seizes Russian Oil Tanker in Atlantic Ocean

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the French Navy successfully intercepted the Tagor, a sanctioned Russian oil tanker, in the Atlantic Ocean. The high-seas operation, conducted in international waters with support from the United Kingdom, targeted vessels actively circumventing sanctions to finance Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Macron strongly defended the seizure, stressing that these unregulated ships continuously violate maritime law and pose severe environmental and safety threats. In fierce retaliation, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov condemned the interception as an “illegal” act bordering on “international piracy,” vowing that Moscow will take all necessary measures to protect its maritime cargo
