France Sends Troops To Greenland Exercises

Emmanuel Macron announced that French soldiers have been deployed to Greenland to take part in military exercises at the request of Denmark. Macron said France would join Denmark-led drills under Operation Arctic Resilience, adding that the first French units are already en route. France’s Arctic ambassador said the deployed troops are mountain warfare specialists. Germany, Norway, and Sweden have also announced troop deployments to Greenland in support of Denmark. The move comes amid renewed tensions after US President Donald Trump reiterated interest in annexing the island, while Denmark stressed close coordination with NATO.
