Francis Scott Key Bridge Section Demolished

A section of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, struck by the cargo ship “Dali” on March 26 in Baltimore’s port, was detonated in a controlled explosion. The incident, which resulted in casualties and significant damage, led to the closure of the bridge. Following the discovery of the last missing worker’s body, the controlled demolition was carried out to clear the remaining debris and facilitate ship movement. The US Army Corps of Engineers confirmed the successful demolition, aiming to restore full port capacity by the end of May.

Reconstruction plans for the bridge, estimated at $2 billion, target completion by fall 2028.
