Freedom Flotilla Ship ‘Hanzala’ Departs for Gaza with Aid

The Freedom Flotilla vessel Hanzala has left southern Italy for Gaza, aiming to break Israel’s blockade and deliver humanitarian aid. Named after a symbol of Palestinian resistance, the ship carries food and medical supplies for children in Gaza.

The Hanzala, a former Norwegian fishing boat, has a 20-member international crew including European politicians, activists, and journalists. “We are aware of the risks, but they are nothing compared to what Gaza’s children endure,” said European MP Emma Fourreau on board.

This mission follows the Israeli interception of a previous aid ship, Madleen, six weeks ago. Meanwhile, negotiations in Doha over a ceasefire and prisoner exchange remain stalled.

Gaza’s health ministry warned of worsening famine, reporting 18 deaths from hunger in 24 hours. It called on Israel and the international community to reopen blocked aid routes immediately.
