French Embassy in Damascus Reopens After 12 Years

France reopened its embassy in Damascus, which it had closed in 2012 due to civil war in Syria, after the overthrow of the Assad regime. According to the French Foreign Ministry, French diplomats were sent to Damascus to assess the political and security situation in the country.

“France stands by the Syrians during this transition period,” said the ministry on social media.
