French Farmers Block Paris With Tractors Over EU-Mercosur Deal

More than 350 tractors entered Paris as French farmers protested near the National Assembly against the planned European Union trade agreement with Mercosur countries. Demonstrators warned the deal would expose French agriculture to unfair competition from South American imports that do not meet EU standards. Farmer unions said a delegation would meet the French prime minister, demanding swift and concrete measures. Protests are expected to continue as the agreement heads toward a vote in the European Parliament.
