French warplanes operating under the U.S.-led coalition intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden drones targeting northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region on Wednesday. The IKRG Counter-Terrorism Unit confirmed the drones were launched from Iranian territory toward the capital, Erbil, before being neutralized in mid-air. While no casualties or damages were reported, security sources indicate the strike specifically targeted Iranian opposition strongholds in the Surdash area of Sulaymaniyah province. The incident marks a significant breach of the ongoing regional ceasefire between U.S. and Iranian-backed forces.
