Friday sermon presented in four languages in Japan

The Tokyo Mosque, located in Japan’s capital, was packed with Muslims seeking to perform Friday prayers. Muslims from tens of different nationalities gathered at Tokyo Mosque today. Because of the high level of interest, some Muslims performed their prayers in the mosque’s courtyard. While the Imam of Tokyo Mosque, Muhammet Rıfat Çınar, read the Friday sermon separately in Arabic, Turkish, English, and Japanese, the sermon was presented to the congregation in print in four languages.

Noting that the mosque is an institution of the Republic of Turkey, and that they also gave place to the Turkish sermon in order to reach the Turks, Çınar said, “We are also giving a sermon in Japanese in order to convey the correct information and principles of Islam to Japanese citizens, since we are in Japan.”
