Frost-Painted Trees Amid Subzero Temperatures in Hakkari

The Yüksekova district in Hakkari encountered freezing temperatures below zero following heavy snowfall, significantly impacting daily life. The district, nestled in one of Türkiye’s highest residential zones, grapples with dense fog reducing visibility to 10 meters in some spots, almost bringing life to a standstill. With nighttime temperatures plummeting to minus 10 degrees, the town center’s trees were veiled in frost, creating picturesque scenes reminiscent of postcards. Ömer Demirel, a local resident, described the district as ‘frozen’ and admired the stunning frost-covered trees, highlighting how this spectacle infused vibrancy into the city’s atmosphere.
