Galata Tower’s Iconic Copper Ring Successfully Restored

As part of the ongoing restoration of Istanbul’s iconic Galata Tower, the 270-kilogram copper ring, removed for refurbishment, has been reinstalled in four pieces. The historic tower, standing for 674 years, underwent a meticulous restoration that included the removal and conservation of its finial. A crane and climbers facilitated the reinstallation, capturing the attention of onlookers during the five-hour operation. Drone footage revealed the picturesque moment when the Galata Tower, adorned with its golden finial, regained its historical charm. The restoration is expected to conclude by the end of April.
