Garbage in Gaza Raises Epidemic Risk amid Israeli Attacks

The ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza, now lasting for 18 days, have halted public services, including the collection of garbage. Due to the risk of airstrikes, municipal trucks cannot operate, resulting in the accumulation of trash on the streets and near residential areas. This situation escalates the risk of disease outbreaks in the conflict-affected region, compounding the existing humanitarian crisis. Local authorities are struggling to address this problem, creating makeshift garbage disposal sites, but they remain too close to settlements, causing concerns about public health.
