Gas-stricken Europe seeks coal from Turkey

Natural gas prices in Europe increased by up to 30% after Russia’s restrictions on natural gas shipments to Europe. Concerned about Russia’s natural gas restrictions, European countries seek 25 kilogram packages of coal from Turkey. Coal producers, however, prefer to sell their products in the domestic market due to a lack of stock.

Muhammed Döner, a coal supplier, said that they were having coal shortages,  stating, “I am currently receiving order requests from Macedonia and Slovakia, but I am unable to fulfill them. We don’t have enough supplies. If this trend continues, coal prices will rise further.”
