In Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, 70-year-old Majida Abu Aweili is caring for her six grandchildren alone after her son Mohammed and his wife vanished while trying to collect humanitarian aid in Rafah on July 16.
Aweili, living in a damaged home, pleaded for information about their whereabouts: “My son went to bring food for his hungry children but never returned. I call on anyone who has seen them to tell me if they are alive or dead.”
Thousands remain missing across the Gaza Strip, where years of Israeli attacks have left families separated and children orphaned.
