Despite ongoing tensions, the Islamic University of Gaza has resumed in-person classes for the first time in two years. Students are returning to buildings damaged by Israeli strikes, with limited restored classrooms now in use.
University official Dr. Ahmad Al-Turk said the war devastated Gaza’s education system and left most facilities damaged, but reopening is essential for students’ recovery.
Student Ahmad Oweidah, who waited two years to begin university, said they will “continue our education and pursue our dreams” despite the difficult conditions.
