Georgian Opposition Protests Abkhazia’s Investment Agreement with Russia

Under the leadership of the Georgian opposition, a large number of protesters who are against the investment agreement signed with Russia on October 30 in Abkhazia, which unilaterally declared independence from Georgia, gathered in front of the Abkhazian parliament, where the agreement will be submitted to the approval of the deputies. The protesters tried to enter the parliament building and tore down its iron railings and were responded to by security forces with tear gas.

Due to the rising tensions outside, the session in which the investment agreement was to be voted on was postponed. Following the postponement, the crowd dispersed. However, the opposition announced that they would continue the protests until the agreement is terminated.
