German Foreign Minister Stranded As Ice Halts Flights

Severe cold and icy conditions disrupted public transport across large parts of Germany, affecting both urban and long-distance travel. Snowfall and freezing temperatures caused delays and cancellations on major rail routes, while bus and tram services were suspended or slowed in several regions, including Berlin, Hamburg, Bavaria, and Brandenburg. More than 100 traffic accidents were reported in some areas as roads became hazardous. The weather also forced Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to abandon air travel from Berlin and continue his planned visit to Latvia and Sweden by train and military aircraft after his plane was grounded due to ice.
