Employees of Vivantes and Charite Hospitals in Berlin, the capital of Germany, went on strike under the leadership of the VERDI Union, demanding better working conditions and acceptable minimum hourly wages. Nurses and midwives, as well as cleaning, transport and kitchen workers, took part in the protest held in front of the Berlin Health Senator for the strike. In a statement made by Charite Hospital on social media, it was announced that emergency care will continue to be provided during the strike, but waiting times may be longer.
