Germany Deports Earthquake-Affected Turkish Family

A Turkish family from Hatay, who moved to Germany after the February 6 earthquake, faced sudden deportation following a raid on their home in Pinneberg near Hamburg.

The Arol family, who arrived in Germany under a special visa program, were detained early in the morning and taken to Hamburg Airport. Their deportation was halted after a last-minute court order, giving them until March 19 to leave voluntarily.

Father Aykut Arol said they struggled to obtain work permits and faced financial hardships. His wife, Gülsüm Arol, expressed concerns about returning to Türkiye with no stable home or income. Their 13-year-old son, Berk, said he struggled to adapt in Germany and preferred to continue his education in Hatay.
