Varosha, the TRNC territory that was closed to settlement after being seized by the Turkish Armed Forces during the Turkish invasion in 1974 and gradually opened to visitors in 2020, attracts many local and foreign tourists.
“This is my first time in Varosha. I examined the structures and architecture here. There are notes written on the structures here, which caught my attention. I also really liked the sea here,” said Mahir Akbaş, a visitor.
“People who used to live here left traces and writings on the structures here. We examined them. Traces of life, the ruins of the city make you feel very different emotions. I also really like the sea of Varosha. The most beautiful sea I’ve ever seen is here. This is a very interesting region,” said another visitor, Zeynep Atabay.
