Greece has officially taken over the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of October. Aglaia Balta, Greece’s Permanent Representative to the UN, announced a busy agenda that will tackle artificial intelligence, maritime security, and ongoing developments in the Middle East. Speaking at UN Headquarters, Balta noted that this is the second time Greece has led the Council during its current elected term. She emphasized that the nation will strictly adhere to international law and the UN Charter, aiming primarily to ensure the Council’s “effective and transparent” functioning.
