Greece Marks Train Accident Anniversary with Strikes and Protests

 

On the anniversary of the tragic train accident in Greece claiming 57 lives, public transport workers staged a 24-hour strike, causing disruptions in train and ferry services. Thousands, including student unions, labor unions, and political representatives, gathered in Athens, demanding justice and transparency in the trial related to the incident. Demonstrators also voiced concerns about rising prices. Tensions flared as a masked group clashed with police, throwing Molotov cocktails and stones. Police intervened with tear gas, detaining 6 individuals amid the peaceful protests.
