A deadly wildfire near Varnava, 35 kilometers north of Athens, has claimed a woman’s life and destroyed 100,000 decares of land. The fire, which started on Sunday, continues to spread, with efforts to control it involving 702 firefighters, 199 fire trucks, 35 aircraft, and additional volunteers and military personnel.
International support has been mobilized, with aid arriving from France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Turkey. The situation remains critical as firefighting efforts continue.
