Two vessels from Greece’s Syros Island have joined the Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. Hundreds gathered in Ermoupolis to send off the ships, chanting “Free Palestine.”
The flotilla, involving more than 40 ships and 800 activists from 44 countries, began its journey in Spain on August 31 and faced drone attacks while docked in Tunisia earlier this month. Its goal is to bring aid to Palestinians facing famine under Israel’s blockade.
