Greek Farmers Block Road in Ongoing Protest

Greek farmers staged a protest near Türkiye’s Pazarkule Border Gate, blocking the Kastanies-Evros road with hay bales and tractors. This demonstration marks a continuation of the ongoing farmer protests in Greece, which have intensified following the national meeting in Larissa Nikaia. About 140 farmers participated in the protest, advocating for various demands, including tax-free agricultural oil, reduced electricity tariffs, subsidies for food and feed, rejection of the EU’s new common agricultural policy, 100% compensation for products, compensation for income loss, and measures against illegal imports. The road, blocked for approximately 1 hour during the demonstration, was unilaterally reopened to traffic afterward.
