Greek Students Protest Private Education Bill

Approximately 8,000 students in Athens, the capital of Greece, have been protesting for 3 days against the government’s new bill allowing the establishment of private universities. Students chanting the slogan “Fight against class discrimination” reiterated today that university degrees will lose their importance with the establishment of private universities. A group of demonstrators set fire to garbage bins and clashed with the police at the end of the demonstration.

Greece was one of the few countries that did not allow the establishment of private universities.
