The Greek public marched to the US Embassy in the capital, Athens, on the 50th anniversary of the resistance against the junta that started at the Polytechnic University in 1973. More than 20,000 people, including students and members of political organizations and unions, carried anti-junta banners and shouted slogans against the US for supporting the junta’s coup.
The demonstrators, among whom there were Palestinians living in Greece, carried Palestine flags and chanted in support of Gaza as well.
On November 17, 1973, the junta administration raided the Athens Polytechnic University with tanks for opposing them, killing 23 and injuring more than 1,000.
