Greenpeace activists protested the British government’s decision to issue over 100 new oil and gas exploration licenses in the North Sea by scaling the roof of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s historic home in North Yorkshire and unfurling a banner, which read “No new Oil”. The North Yorkshire Police intervened promptly.
During the protest, the Prime Minister was on vacation in California. He purchased the house after being elected as a Member of Parliament for the Richmond constituency.
