Greta Thunberg Detained Twice during Protests Yesterday

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained two times during protests against fossil fuel subsidies yesterday in The Hague, Netherlands. Her first detention took place during blocking of a main road, which turned into a conflict, and after she was released and joined a group that blocked another road to a train station, the police detained her again.

“We are facing a planetary emergency and we will not stand by and watch people lose their lives and livelihoods and become climate refugees when we can do something,” Thunberg said before she was detained for the second time.

The police detained 412 people in total during the day.
