Hagia Sophia History Museum Welcomes Visitors with New Collection

The former Land Registry Directorate in Sultanahmet Square has been converted into the Hagia Sophia Museum of History and Experience by Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The museum, reopened in 2023, showcases the history of Hagia Sophia from its construction to the present using advanced visual and auditory technology.

The museum features a rich collection, including a 15th-century Holy Quran, rare candlesticks, and Christian liturgical items. Notable exhibits include bronze medallions by the Fossatti Brothers and historical bricks with ancient Greek inscriptions.

A section dedicated to Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror displays documents from the Hagia Sophia Mosque Foundation, providing insights into its historical administration and expenditures. The museum highlights the continued preservation of this iconic heritage site.
