Hatay has been home to many civilizations for thousands of years, where Mosaic artist Elif Kocaoglu Kültekin and her team keep the art heritage alive in the city, and promote it by making then miniatures of numerous mosaics unearthed during the excavations. Stating that they have been sending mosaics to the Middle East countries until today, Kültekin said, “Our mosaics will now appear in England. The art of mosaic has a thousand-year history and is a handcraft that started in Antakya [Hatay]. We are carrying out cultural heritage to the whole world. We are working on introducing our crafts to Europe, Middle East and everywhere else. ” According to Kültekin, the mosaics were made with the same stones as in the past.
