After a devastating earthquake in Hatay, Türkiye thousands of buildings were destroyed, and the city has undergone a remarkable transformation in the seven months since the disaster. Much of the debris has been cleared, but the city’s appearance has changed dramatically. Residents are hopeful for the future and believe that Hatay will eventually return to its former state. Despite ongoing demolitions, construction of homes and businesses continues as citizens work to rebuild their city. Taxi driver Oğuzhan Erol expressed amazement at the changes, and he, along with others, hopes for government support in restoring Hatay to its former glory.
