Heavy rains have led to severe flooding in the Jalal Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, particularly impacting the village of Arstanbab in the Bazar Korgon district. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the floods swept away parked vehicles and left streets covered in mud. Significant damage occurred, affecting a hospital, bazaar, five bridges, and 23 vehicles, with dozens of houses also flooded.
More than 200 search and rescue personnel have been deployed to the area, and damage assessment efforts are underway. Thankfully, no loss of life has been reported so far. This follows previous flooding in the Osh and Batken regions at the end of June, which resulted in at least 10 fatalities.
