Heavy rains hit the northeastern region of Japan. Due to torrential rains in the states of Aomori, Iwate and Akita, water levels in many rivers in the region rose to critical levels. Floods occurred in some rivers. Landslides caused disruptions in road traffic. Japan Railways (JR) has temporarily suspended high-speed train services between Akita Station and Morioka Station due to heavy rain in the Tohoku region. High-speed train services were disrupted between Yamagata Station and Shinjo Station.

Announcing that heavy rains will continue until tomorrow morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) warned residents living in risky areas against the risk of floods and landslides.
