Heavy Snow Disrupts Transport in Netherlands

Heavy snowfall across the Netherlands caused major disruption to air and ground transport, with more than 1,050 flights cancelled at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, mainly to European and UK destinations. Authorities reported around 690 kilometers of traffic congestion nationwide, while parts of highways were closed and snow-clearing vehicles became stuck in traffic. Public transport was also affected, with bus services suspended in several regions and reduced train operations due to technical failures. The Dutch weather service KNMI issued orange-level warnings for seven regions, urging caution.
