The Panama-flagged container ship “Rise Shine” ran aground after a storm on the coast of the Sea of ​​Japan in the city of Nakhodka, Primorsky region of Russia. The engine room flooded due to cracks in the hull of the ship. The 14 sailors on board were stranded. Russian Emergencies Ministry crews waited for the storm to subside to rescue the sailors. As part of the rescue operation launched in the morning, the sailors were tied to the ropes with a Mi-8 type helicopter and taken away from the ship. It was announced that all of the rescued sailors were foreign nationals.

The Russian Transport Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into whether the ship complies with safety regulations.
