Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Sunday he would task Yashar Party leader Gadi Eisenkot with forming a government after he received recommendations from 67 lawmakers, compared with 46 for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Herzog said the results were clear but noted that disagreements between political blocs could complicate government formation. He announced plans to meet party leaders before formally granting Eisenkot the mandate. “I will spare no effort to encourage the parties to communicate with each other and to form a stable and good government for the people of Israel,” Herzog said.
