Hunders of German citizens protested the increasing costs and the energy policies of the government in Cologne. The protesters criticized the economic aid package that the government announced and demanded the prices to be decreased with banners that say, “Enough is enough” or “Increase the salary”.
Mehmet Perişan, Head of the Construction Union (IG BAU) Cologne Branch, who participated in the demonstration, said, “We are here because there is an activity against price increases. We started our work against price increases within the union. As you know, gasoline and diesel prices increased one hundred percent today. Foods and the other things we consume daily have increased by 30 to 60 percent. As you know, the inflation rate was announced as 8 percent, yesterday they said it reached 10 percent,” he said.
