Based on the data received from European Drought Observatory, Joint Research Centre of European Commission (JRC) published an analytical report named “Drought in Europe – August 2022”. According to the report, drought in many regions of Europe claimed to be alarming. Report shows that the drought in Europe is still attributed as “warning” for 47% and “alarming” for 17% of the region since July. JRC stated that Europe is facing the most arid period in the last 500 years.
The report also includes that the 5-year average of grain maize, soybeans, and sunflower crops sequentially decreased by 16%, 15% and 12%. The average temperatures in western Mediterranean will remain to be higher than seasonal normals until November 2022.
