Hizbullah supporters killed, injured protesting Beirut blast investigator

At least six supporters of Hizbullah and the Shiite Amal Movement lost their lives and 30 others were injured while protesting the investigation over the explosion in Beirut port last year, conducted by judge Tarek Bitar. The crowd of the marchers was targeted while passing through the Ain el-Remmaneh, a district packed with Christian citizens in the city, Lebanese army officials said. According to officials, an exchange of fire took place after fire opened on the crowd of protestors. Deployed in the site of the protest, Lebanese army heavily fortified the site of the protest while two explosions were heard. Sound of several rockets heard followed by gunfire lasted for several hours when the protest erupted, eyewitnesses said.

On 4th of August 2020, fire broke out in a warehouse containing explosives in the port of Beirut ended up with a huge explosion resulted the death of 210 and 6500 others were injured.

Beirut blast judge Tarek Bitar who conducted the investigation, had summoned former prime minister Hassan Diyab and some other senior officials to testify in July.
