hostage crisis in amsterdam apple store

An armed robber entered the Apple store in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital, and took at least one hostage. A large part of Leidseplein has been cordoned off, while a large number of police teams were dispatched to the scene. “There is someone carrying a firearm in/near the shop, the police are at the scene with several experts to contain the situation,” the police said in a statement, adding, “Local residents, entrepreneurs and employees in Leidseplein are advised not to come and look outside and inside, we want them to stay.”

The hostage crisis ended around 22:30 local time, and the armed robber was caught after he was hit by a police car whilst attempting to flee the store. The robber was injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police stated
