On Saturday, 4 people were taken hostage by a gunman during a religious ceremony at the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue in Colleyville county of Texas state, US. A large number of police teams, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officers, were deployed to the scene. Meanwhile, an operation was started and the residents around the synagogue were evacuated. According to authorities, the hostage crisis came to an end after the operation that lasted for about 10 hours. It’s been reported that US Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams killed the suspect, and the hostages were rescued and safe.
On the other hand, local sources identified the suspect as Muhammad Siddiqui. Siddiqui is alleged to be the brother of Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani national who was sentenced to 86 years in prison by the New York City Federal Court in 2010 for attempted murder of US military personnel. It’s been stated that Siddiqui demanded the release of his imprisoned sister.
