House of Representatives Speaker Voted Out from Office

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, was removed from office after the motion submitted to remove him from office was approved. The proposal submitted by Republican Matt Gaetz, a member of the House of Representatives, was accepted with 216 “yes” votes to 210 “no” votes. Among those who voted yes, there were 8 Republicans. McCarthy’s dismissal was recorded as the first dismissal approved by members of his own party in US history.

Republican representative Patrick McHenry was temporarily appointed to replace McCarthy, who will continue his duty as a member of the parliament.
