A lung taken from a patient at Canada’s Toronto Western Hospital was transported to Toronto General Hospital by drone. After the 6-minute journey, the lung to be transferred to the patient for the first time in the world was transported with a drone. Head surgeon of the University Health Network (UHN), to which the hospital where the transplant was performed, Dr. Shaf Keshavjee stated that the transplant operation for 63-year-old Alain Hodak went well. Martine Rothblat, owner of Unither Bioelectronique company, which transports drones to the hospital, stated that they chose Toronto General Hospital because it is the first hospital in Canada where double and single lung transplants were performed.
