hundreds evacuated after gas tank fire in chile

A fire broke out in a gas tank in the La Cisterna district of Chile’s capital, Santiago. The Fire was brought under control hours later with the participation of many firefighters and first aid teams. “As the fire could not be brought under control immediately, 500 people living in the surrounding area had to be evacuated,” said Santiago Fire Chief Jorge Molina Salas. He stated that there was no loss of life or injury in the fire, and that only a few houses in the vicinity were affected by the fire.

While the cause of the fire in the gas tank is not yet known, an investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
