Hundreds of villages flooded in Thailand: 3 dead

Three lost their lives due to heavy rains that flooded roads, railway stations and agricultural fields in 1,361 villages in the southern provinces of Thailand. Education was suspended in many schools and authorities warned people in Hua Hin, one of the country’s famous holiday centers, to not to swim in the sea due to severe tides.

The Thai army, non-governmental organizations and various search and rescue teams were deployed. Food and other supplies were distributed with boats.

On Sunday night, a navy ship malfunctioned and sank in the Gulf of Thailand due to a storm. Search and rescue efforts for the 30 missing soldiers continue under difficult conditions.
