Hungarian PM Orban Protested for “Betraying His Country” at EU Press Conference

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was protested by a Hungarian opposition politician and activist who accused him of betraying his country during his speech on Hungary’s plans for the 6-month European Union Council presidency term at the press conference at the European Parliament yesterday. The opposition politician, who claimed that Orban sold his country to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, shouted, “Mr. Prime Minister, for how much did you sell your country?” and threw money at him.

The Hungarian PM continued his speech after the protester was removed from the hall, saying, “Perhaps a one-sentence explanation should be made here about the political culture in Hungary. Hungarian is a straightforward language and communication is quite harsh. When a Hungarian politician calls another Hungarian politician a ‘traitor’, this means ‘I do not agree with you’. in our language.”
